Wellness Nomad | Alternative Medicine Specialist
In a year one resort’s occupancy fell, its spa revenue rose twenty-five per cent. Nothing was added to the menu. Nothing was added to the price list. Three operational moves did it — two at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, one later at The Langham Melbourne.
Score Your Spa: Six Questions sets out all three, with what each one looked like on the floor. It then gives you the six questions I ask about any property before I look at its P&L, with what a one looks like and what a five looks like at each. Fifteen minutes with a pen and you will know whether your spa is designed, leaking or structural.
It is free. I ask only for a work email so I can send it to you.
I design and rebuild wellness offerings for luxury hotels, resorts, and vessels — as a practitioner who understands the boardroom and a manager who respects the clinic. My working life has been spent inside the operations I now advise: Wellness Director roles and senior practice at Six Senses, One&Only Wolgan Valley, The Langham Melbourne, and Fusion Maia Da Nang.
The work runs from concept to floor: programme architecture, treatment menu and ritual design, pre-arrival personalisation systems, practitioner recruitment and training, and the commercial model underneath — pricing, capacity, and revenue per treatment hour. My programmes are built on the Forest Model, a five-layer architecture I developed around a simple observation: guests transform through rest, not shock.
I take a small number of engagements at a time, structured as a defined scope with licensed IP rather than open-ended retainer hours. If you are opening, repositioning, or watching a spa underperform its real estate, the conversation starts below.

Years of hands-on spa & wellness leadership
Luxury properties deployed globally
Global wellness tourism reached US$894 billion in 2024, growing 13.8% year-on-year — well ahead of general tourism. Ninety percent of affluent travellers report that wellness features influence their booking decisions, and 75% will not pay for luxury that feels generic. The market rewards depth and punishes templates.
Four expectations now define the affluent wellness guest:
Commercially, a differentiated, wellness-led programme supports a 15–20% incremental guest-spend premium, with capture rates of 20–30% achievable against industry norms. Properties that close this gap convert wellness from cost centre to revenue driver.
Strategy & Concept Development
Full-spectrum wellness strategy for new builds and repositionings: wellness positioning, market and competitor benchmarking, guest-profile definition, treatment concept and pricing architecture, and financial modelling. Deliverables are board-ready — designed to be presented to ownership and investors, not just operations.
Programme & Journey Design
Signature treatments and emotionally intelligent guest journeys, mapped across the full arc from arrival ritual to departure. Includes multi-sensory design — sound, scent, touch and ritual sequencing — and proprietary experiences such as the Sea of Surrender hypno-meditation, embedded into programme architecture rather than offered as an add-on.
Spa Design, Layout & MEP Advisory
Wellness spaces succeed or fail at the drawing board. Working alongside architects, interior designers and engineering consultants, I advise on spa layout and space planning — treatment-room configuration, thermal and wet areas, therapist circulation and back-of-house flow — together with MEP coordination for treatment rooms, steam, sauna and hydrotherapy facilities. Recent work includes treatment-room and marine-grade MEP specification for a new-build luxury vessel.
Pre-Opening & Operational Readiness
Therapist recruitment and calibration against wellness and service standards; full SOP frameworks covering guest arrival, consultation, treatment delivery and daily briefing structure; and pre-opening simulations run against real operating conditions — so launch day is a rehearsal already passed, not a first attempt.
Spa & Wellness Team Training
The gap between a good spa and a great one is almost always in the hands and the first ten minutes of conversation. I train spa teams on property, in their own treatment rooms — technique correction at the table, the consultation that opens each treatment, guest-journey rehearsal from reception to farewell, and the retail and rebooking conversation that most therapists are never taught. Two or three days, followed by a written standard the spa manager can hold the team to. Designed for pre-opening teams, teams adopting a new menu, and properties whose guest scores have drifted. As one of very few consultants who still works a treatment table, I correct what I see rather than what I am told.
Launch, Soft Opening & Post-Opening Quality
Embedded on-site presence through dry runs and first commercial operations, with real-time protocol adjustment and team coaching. Post-opening, a structured quality programme — monthly reviews and quarterly assessments covering service consistency, therapist performance, revenue per guest and yield — protects standards as the programme matures.
Spa & Wellness Talent — International Placement
The single most common point of failure in wellness operations is talent. I run a dedicated recruitment and placement service helping hotels, resorts and spa operators hire qualified professionals from Australia, India and Southeast Asia — sourced through direct practitioner networks including on-the-ground presence in Da Nang, assessed hands-on against wellness and service standards, and trained to the property’s protocols before day one. Leadership search for spa directors, wellness managers and visiting practitioners included.
Visiting Practitioner Residencies
As an active visiting practitioner across 12+ luxury properties in Asia-Pacific, the Indian Ocean and the Middle East, I return to properties as a named wellness specialist. At Joali Maldives, repeat guests returned specifically for my treatment protocols; at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay I served as the public face of the spa programme with travel agents, celebrities and press.
Most advisory relationships start small. Three defined first steps, each with a fixed scope and a fixed fee, so the decision needs no procurement process.
Wellness Concept Review — from USD 1,000, remote, ten working days
I review your existing concept, menu, pricing and guest journey documents and return a written assessment: where the offer is strong, where it leaks, and the three changes I would make first. The usual starting point for properties already operating.
360° Spa & Wellness Audit — USD 4,000–6,000, two days on property
Two days inside your operation: booking path, arrival, treatment delivery, retail, team, and the commercial model underneath. Delivered as a board-ready report with a prioritised plan. Most programme design engagements begin here.
Spa & Wellness Team Training — from USD 6,500, two to three days on property
Treatment-room coaching, guest-journey rehearsal, consultation and retail conversation, closing with a written standard your spa manager can hold the team to. Detailed under Service Offerings above.
Full programme design, pre-opening and post-opening engagements are scoped individually against the property’s brief.
ANYN engaged Soho Wellness to design and launch a complete wellness programme for a new ultra-luxury overnight voyage concept — a 10-suite vessel carrying approximately 20 guests on an immersive 45-hour voyage — choosing ground-up design over outsourcing to a local provider as a deliberate commercial decision.
The work runs in four sequential, deliverables-based phases: strategic programme architecture and sensory journey mapping; pre-opening readiness including therapist recruitment, certification and full SOP frameworks; on-vessel launch support through dry-run and first commercial voyages; and an ongoing post-opening quality programme.
The outcome: a board-approved wellness concept positioned to out-perform the region’s benchmark operator on programme depth and credibility, a certified Vietnamese therapist team sourced without intermediaries, and a ritual-led guest arc engineered for a 15–20% incremental spend premium.
Two decades of Wellness Director, spa operations and visiting-practitioner engagements across five countries of residence and twenty-six travelled.
