Introducing Dr. Sohal, Practitioner of Holistic Medicine

Sixteen years across clinical practice and luxury hospitality

I am Sohal Shah — warmly referred to as Soho — a Naturopath, Acupuncturist, Hypnotherapist, Yoga Therapy Practitioner, Dry Needling Practitioner and Wellness Consultant based between Australia and Vietnam. I was first drawn to this work by my grandfather, a traditional Ayurvedic physician from South India, and my practice has since grown across several disciplines. I am currently also working as Spa and Wellness Consultant to ANYN, an ultra-luxury cruise vessel in Vietnam, through its pre-opening.

I am first and foremost a practitioner. Having lived and worked in five countries and travelled to 26 others, most of that time has been spent treating guests directly — as a Visiting Practitioner with resorts and institutions including Joali, Cheval Blanc, Six Senses Resorts, Waldorf Astoria, Gili Lankanfushi, Anantara Kihavah, Soneva Fushi and Viking Ocean Cruises.

I moved into management to understand the other half of the work. Running a spa taught me what a treatment room looks like on a P&L, how teams are trained and rostered, and why good clinical work falls short without commercial structure behind it. That took me into Wellness & Spa Director roles at Six Senses Resorts Vietnam, Fusion Maia Da Nang, Willow Urban Retreat Melbourne, One&Only Wolgan Valley Australia and The Langham Melbourne — and it is what led me to open Soho Wellness.

A long curiosity about traditional medicine has shaped the route I took. After graduating with a Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS) from RGUHS University in India, I went on to study Eastern-style acupuncture at the Hanoi Hospital of Traditional Medicine in Vietnam.

I later trained in Cosmetic Acupuncture and Modern Medical Acupuncture in Australia, and have studied clinical hypnotherapy with the Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP) in Australia. I hold memberships with the Australian Natural Therapists Association and the Ayurveda and Unani Medicine Practitioners Board in India.

In my practice I combine modern science with traditional therapies: Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Dry Needling, Harmonised Meridian and Trigger Point therapy, Guided Deep Relaxation Techniques, Meditation, Physiotherapy, Hypnosis and Yoga therapy. Central to how I work is a belief in the body’s inherent ability to heal itself.

To begin, I offer private consultations where we assess your needs and what you want to achieve. From there we map a realistic course towards a healthier, more balanced life.

I offer a wide range of services:
  • Traditional Acupuncture
  • Yogic Intestinal Cleanse
  • Sleep Meditation / Transcendental Meditation / Mindfulness Meditation
  • Pain and Tension Relief Therapy
  • Cosmetic Acupuncture
  • Clinical Hypnotherapy
